This book, the first volume in a series published in association with the Roehampton Institute, takes the Elton Inquiry Report "Discipline in Schools" as its starting point, and devotes chapters to some of the main themes of the report as they relate to primary schools. Emphasis is given to strategies for forestalling behaviour problems, classroom management and pupil relationships, responding positively to behavioural incidents, the use of praise and rewards, reprimand and punishment, playground behaviour and pupil agression, communciating positive expectations and enhancing pupil motivation, whole-school policies, relationships with parents, and involving pupils in behaviour policy.
