This pocket-sized guide allows students to acquaint themselves with the etymology of medical terms. Medical/paramedical students (and others besides) often find it difficult to understand medical and scientific terminology, which is due in part to little or no knowledge of Latin or Greek, or of etymology. No longer will it be necessary to memorize definitions of individual words because this book will enable the reader to work out the meanings of at least some of them. The introductory section covers the principles of medical etymology, including common prefixes and suffixes. It is followed by a glossary filled with illustrative examples of how words are built up, how they may be dissected and hence, understood.
