Inhaltsangabe
Samuel L. Jackson is one of the most recognisable and hard-working actors in the world. His films are as varied as Star Wars (Episodes I-III), Jurassic Park, Jungle Fever, Jackie Brown, Pulp Fiction and The Long Kiss Goodnight. But he is just as well-known for his lifestyle: his back-to-front Kangol beret, his unrepentant attitude towards his past drink and drug addictions and his outspoken views on racism in Hollywood.
Deserted by his father as a baby, Jackson was raised by his mother and grandmother in Tennessee. He made his acting debut in the 1970s with a hamburger ad, moved to New York and worked in theatre and film, but it was his breakthrough role as Gator in Spike Lee’s Jungle Fever in 1991 that put him on the map. During the 90s he appeared in 33 films in the US, more than any other actor. He has worked with just about everybody: Scorsese, De Niro, Tarantino, Spielberg, Pacino, George Clooney, Harrison Ford, George Lucas, Ben Affleck, Uma Thurman, Yoda…
Unbelievably, Samuel L. Jackson - The Unauthorised Biography will be the first ever biography to be published. Thorough and authoritative, it will be essential reading for film fans.

Hardback. Zustand: Very Good. But Jackson's success, as Jeff Hudson's book reveals, has come with the knowledge that he has had to work harder for it than certain others. Why? Because the institutional racism which is rife within Hollywood actively discriminates against black actors. That's why, as an A-list black star, Jackson gets paid the same as a C-list white actor. That's why his screen characters are not allowed to have sex scenes with white actresses. And that's why, since the Oscars' inception in 1929, only three black actors have won the Academy Award for Best Actress or Actor. Everyone knows it goes on, but everyone knows that if you want the work - and the awards - you keep quiet. And Samuel L. Jackson has never been a man to bite his tongue, as this book aims to reveal.
