The main aim of Vivace is to build on your knowledge of the four language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing in Italian. You will also: acquire a good understanding of Italian grammar; expand your Italian vocabulary; gain an insight into the cultures of Italy and its regions; discover strategies to make your learning more successful. This first book is divided into six units: Unit 1: La Famiglia - looks at the family in contemporary Italy and how it has changed in recent years. Unit 2: Da piccola - in this unit several people talk about their childhood, sharing fond memories of pets and childhood friends, remembering school days and telling of favourite holidays at the seaside. Unit 3: Non e bello cio che e bello..- this unit is about describing people their physical appearance, personality and skills - and comparing and identifying similarities. Unit 4: Appuntamenti, attivita ricreative e culturali - this unit explores the various aspects of socialising and entertainment in Italy, learning how to make invitations and suggestions using appropriate vocabulary and structures. Unit 5: Buon viaggio - in this unit we look at where Italians go for their holidays and their changing holiday habits. Unit 6: L importante e mangiare bene - this unit looks at the role food and drink play in Italian families and society, comparing past and present eating habits. Regional cuisine, festivals and local food fairs are also covered in this section. There are activities in each unit and the answers can be found in the Chiave at the end of the book.
