Practical Barbel Fishing - Hardcover

Barbel fishing has never been more popular. Among specialist river anglers the barbel is the premier fish, and taking coarse fishing as a whole, barbel is second only to carp. The substantial growth in barbel fishing has been accompanied by a great thirst for knowledge about this fascinating species, and books have been published to help both the beginner and the highly advanced barbel angler. This book is aimed at the intermediate level and will also be valuable to the experienced angler who wants to try his hand at barbel fishing. This book provides sound advice on how to catch barbel of a variety of sizes in different kinds of rivers, while always keeping in mind that fishing should be fun. The general behavior of barbel and their feeding habits are discussed in this book, which goes on to give in-depth advice on choosing the best rods, reels, and accessories; choosing the right waters and the most productive swims; and choosing and using baits. It also considers the mechanics of how rigs works and how to make basic and advanced rigs, and gives full explanations of such techniques as fishing in extreme conditions, swimfeeder and float fishing, back-leading, roving, upstream, more, and much mroe. It also examines bile indication, louch legering, playing, landing, weighing, photographing, and caring for barbel, how to prepare for longer sessions, night fishing, and pre-baiting and baiting strategies.
