Understanding Stroke was originally published in 2002 and proved to be a valuable book for stroke patients, carers and health professionals. It provided the patient with the information and motivation so vital for successful rehabilitation; it helped carers to understand many of the issues involved; and it bridged the gap between patients and health professionals. In this revised edition, Rosemary Sassoon has updated and extended the work, adding new material on recent research and rehabilitation from experts in these fields, and bringing the reader up to date with her own recovery. The book continues to provide essential information for the understanding of stroke and stroke care from different perspectives, with an assessment of progress made in the last decade and an up-to-date list of resources.
Biografía del autor
Rosemary Sassoon has had a varied working life, first as designer and letterer, then as a researcher, writer and lecturer specialising in the educational and medical aspects of handwriting. This study included all ages from pre-school children to adult neurological patients. It was this work that first introduced her to the problems of stroke patients. The University of Reading awarded her a PhD for her work on children s handwriting. More recently she researched and designed a family of typefaces specially for educational purposes. She lectures and researches worldwide on handwriting and letterforms and is author of some fifteen books. Having a stroke has not stopped her.
