Reseña del editor:
"Demons" records and explores the changing visions of evil over the centuries through art history, bringing together a series of striking images of Satan, demons and the wicked in paintings, stained glass, icons, lithographs and illuminated manuscripts. Each chapter opens with an essay exploring and explaining the overlying theme and captions discuss the symbolism in, and techniques of, individual images, and provide relevant background information on the artist. With its detailed analysis of the symbolism and mythology of hell, Satan and his helpers (from the earliest period of Christianity to today), and its unparalleled collection of images, "Demons" appeals both to students of the history of art and to those interested in theology and mythology.
