The Llangollen Canal is the busiest and most popular cruising waterway in the British Waterways network. It stretches for 46 miles from the Shropshire Union near to Nantwich and winds across rural Cheshire into the Vale of Llangollen. Amongst outstanding engineering structures are the aqueducts at Chirk and Pontcysyllte, which opened in 1850. This history features many pictures from the author's extensive archive taken or collected over 40 years of boating and working on the Canal.
