Architecture 99: The Riba Awards - Softcover

Inhaltsangabe

The Royal Institute of British Architects' awards celebrate a range of excellent current architecture throughout Britain and continental Europe. This second book in an annual series describes and illustrates all the winners, chosen after a rigorous and exhaustive judging process. It includes the category awards (housing; commercial; sport and leisure; civic and community; health; education; conservation), the Client of the Year Award - recognition of the importance of the client's role in the creation of good buildings - and The Stephen Lawrence Award for a building costing less than 500,000, named in honor of the murdered black teenager who wanted to train as an architect. Finally, it includes the winner of The Stirling Prize, the UK's richest and most prestigious award. Winners this year range from sludge-disposal facilities in north-west England to the restoration of the Reichstag, via bridges, house extensions, stations, schools, theatres, offices and much more.
