From: The Methodist Recorder - February 2008 CANON David Winter's customary clarity of expression, allied with deep and detailed knowledge of his subject, makes Journey to Jerusalem - Bible Readings from Ash Wednesday to Easter Sunday (brf, GBP7.99) an invaluable companion for the Lenten journey. Although it is indeed true, as the title makes clear, that each day's section is headed with a biblical reference, it is Canon Winter's exposition of the background to those references which earns this book the possibly facile description of a "page-turner", as he takes the reader with Jesus and his followers along the dusty roads that lead eventually to Jerusalem, Good Friday and the glories of Easter Day. A book for those for whom the Easter message may have become stale as well as for those seeking to discover its message for the first time and all those in between. Its theme is "following".
