Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Alexander Sturgis obtained his PhD at the Courtauld Institutein London, where he specialized in medieval art history. He has worked for the past eight years in the Education Department at the National Gallery, London, where he lectures to a wide variety of audiences. A contributor to both the Macmillan Dictionary of Art (1996) and The New Oxford Companion to Western Art (1999), he has also written extensively for the National Gallery on both the permanent and temporary exhibitions. HIs other publications include Introducing Rembrandt (Little Brown, 1994) and Magic in Art (Belitha Press, 1994). Understanding Paintings, compiled under the guidance of Alexander Sturgis, contains contributions from a team of international experts in art history.
