It’s an informational pamphlet to encourage conversation about the subtle social problems that women (and girls) experience but are overlooked because Autism is associated with Caucasian males and diagnosed in childhood. There are significant social deficits that increase over time. Women are overly socialized to be agreeable and identify with traditional gender roles. Questions such as: Do people spend too much time misinterpreting your body language when you COMMUNICATE WITH WORDS? Do these individuals ever seem to have a clear understanding of anything you say? Do you find yourself not getting along with other females because they are too needy and worry about what other people think and want too much? Do you need sleep and feel overwhelmed after engaging with people, especially stressful situations? Do people label you as depressed because you cannot always describe how you feel and you just “need a break”. These questions identify some of the common issues that HFA people struggle with day to day. It’s definitely worth the read.
