The Srī Jap Jī Sāhib is a prayer written by the first SikhGurū, Srī Gurū Nānak Dev Jī and is the initial prayerfrom the Srī Gurū Granth Sāhib Jī. This prayer is utteredas the initial prayer within the Sikh Nitnem which arethe daily prayers to be read. The Srī Jap Jī Sāhib withinis a prayer that takes around twenty minutes to recitebut its definitions seem to be endless. A lot of thecommentaries on this text vary in depth and cansometimes be overbearing for the seeker. This commentary is very different. It is a commentaryby the great Nirmalā scholar, Mahant Ganeshā Singh.Unlike other Nirmalās his commentaries are pretty basicbut the essence of the definitions is not lost within thesimplicity. I wanted to provide both the originalcommentary in Gurmukhī along with a translation ofthe commentary. This is due to the fact that thiscommentary has been out of print for a significantamount of time and to those seekers of the originalcommentary it is available again.
