The IAFOR Journal of Education is an internationally reviewed and editorially independent interdisciplinary journal associated with IAFOR’s international conferences on education. The first issue was published in May 2013, and the journal continues to publish a minimum of two issues per year. The IAFOR Journal of Education is an Open Access, peer-reviewed, international and intercultural journal. The journal encourages interdisciplinary research, with the primary focus being on addressing critical issues and current trends and research in education. This would include exploring significant themes, exceptional programs and promising practice in the field of education, and educational policy. The anticipated audience is preservice and inservice teachers and administrators, university faculty and students, education policy makers, and others interested in educational research. This issue, dedicated to the late Chairman of IAFOR, Professor D. B. Picken, has nine papers covering topics that include: adult learners’ academic performance in higher education; discrimination in education; assessing metacognitive awareness; coaching and changes in an organisation it leads to; gamification for self-assessment; creating an “international communication lounge”; the creative process learning in computer game activities; mindful learning in an English class; and bilingualism.
