She winds up on the trail of Leonard Kerner, missing host of cryptozoological podcast Broad Twilight. Once she joins up with his daughter, Vern, the two uncover a series of transcriptions, journals, instant messages, articles, and book excerpts to form a clandestine narrative stretching more than one hundred years (but mainly, the 1990s). The pair travel from Brooklyn to Baltimore to Berkeley to Brooklyn to encounter real-world dangers, inept clerking, allergies, some time travel, and group research.
