For over 25 years Michael Lenstra has travelled his local area as a Mobile DJ providing Emcee services and musical entertainment for weddings, proms, and special events. He began by carrying crates of records from event to event. He was there when the industry segued to the CD age, and again at the beginning of the digital era. Besides adapting to the new technology he has learned many lessons, assembled countless observations, and has gathered numerous stories. For the past seven years he has shared those stories, lessons, and observations with the readers of the Disc Jockey News in his column, The Way I See It. Some came from many well-known names in the Mobile DJ community, while others came from less notable, but just as valuable, sources such as an auto mechanic, someone from “the oldest profession,” and a Reality TV star (turned president!). Now he has combed through his past articles and put together those he felt most relevant in one book to leave with his colleagues as his career begins to wind down.
