Broadens the approach to central European Jewish history by highlighting complex interactions between ordinary Jewish and non-Jewish soldiers and civilians. Complicates the history of antisemitism by revealing broad spectrum of perceptions of Jews and their experiences in the war. Provides interdisciplinary approach to German Jewish history in the First World War, which incorporates research perspectives from history, literature, cultural studies, Jewish studies, film studies, as well as gender studies.
