George Addington is just an ordinary Conservative politician. He fiddles his books and sneaks out of the Commons to indulge in luxurious puddings during important debates. Once in a while he thinks about killing postmen, but to be fair nobody is perfect; not even those moralising, do-gooding Labour politicians.

After a disastrous debate on Question Night the electorate turns against the Conservative Party: fires are lit, and unprecedented levels of violence break out across London.

With just several months to the 1930 general election, all the polls point toward a landslide Labour victory. Until that is, George's robot Mildred injects him with experimental protoplasmic polymers, turning him from an ordinary man into the first living synthetic being capable of extraordinary acts of superhuman athleticism.

The odds are insurmountable, but the Tories may just have found the hero they need to turn the electorate to their favour. Well, maybe. But if saving children from certain death doesn't work there's always the option of some clever last-minute political manoeuvring, of course.
