Clea Shearer and Joanna Taplin founded The Home Edit in 2015 with the goal of merging conventional organization and interior design, offering both full and virtual services through their website. They have been featured in the Daily Mail, the Sunday Telegraph's Stella magazine, Sunday Times Style, People, House Beautiful, Architectural Digest and Goop.

Clea and Joanna live with their families in Nashville, Tennessee. They have 6.7m followers on Instagram. Their first book, The Home Edit, was published in March 2019 and made the New York Times bestseller list, followed by The Home Edit Life in September 2020 and The Home Edit Workbook in March 2021. The series has sold more than 136,000 copies in the UK and Commonwealth.
