In the rapidly evolving landscape of healthcare, the fusion of technology with pharmaceutical and medical sciences has heralded a new era of innovation and progress. This new volume explores the intricate intersections of FDM technology with pharmaceutical and medical realms. It looks at how FDM technology, a 3D printing technique that uses a heated filament to create complex objects layer by layer, is reshaping healthcare delivery—from the fabrication of personalized drug delivery systems to the creation of intricate anatomical models for surgical planning. The volume explains the fundamental principles of pharmaceutical FDM and then provides in-depth information on materials selection, how FDM can be used in drug development, the role of FDM in the production and design of medical devices, the regulatory landscape, and more. The volume also presents case studies that illustrate the vast potential of this state-of-the-art technology.
