A beloved Pajama Press classic gets a new look!
A World Of Kindness teaches kids that there are many ways children can show kindness to others—human, animal, young, and old.

With art from nine celebrated children’s book illustrators including Rebecca Bender, Suzanne Del Rizzo, Kim La Fave, Brian Deines, Manon Gauthier, Wallace Edwards, and Tara Anderson, this lavishly illustrated book will invite frequent re-reads to examine the joyful and inspiring illustrations.

In a series of thoughtful questions, the text reminds readers of the impact they can have through everyday actions and words. From simply saying “please” and “thank-you” to helping, comforting, and protecting others. A World of Kindness goes beyond mere platitudes and politeness to examine, in a kid-friendly way, the most powerful of social interactions.

Über die Autorinnen und Autoren

Rebecca Bender has been stapling pages together since she was 4-years-old, creating books staring characters she spies on in her imagination. Today she is the author-illustrator of Giraffe and Bird, Don’t Laugh at Giraffe, Giraffe Meets Bird, Giraffe and Bird Together Again, How Do You Feel?, and Ballewiena. She has also illustrated an early chapter book series, Slug Days, Penguin Days, and Duck Days. When Rebecca is not painting or writing, she is working as a graphic designer and art director in the publishing industry. Rebecca loves animals, arts and crafts, hiking, swimming, cooking, and hanging out with her kids. She lives in a lively house in Burlington, Ontario, with her husband, four children, and a creamsicle-coloured cat that sleeps through almost anything.

Brian Deines is a fine artist and the award-winning illustrator of over 20 children’s books, including A Bear in War, Bear on the Homefront, The Road to Afghanistan, and On a Snowy Night. Dragonfly Kites, part of a trilogy written by Tomson Highway, was shortlisted for the Governor General’s Award for illustration and the Ruth & Sylvia Schwartz Children’s Book Award. A graduate of the Alberta College of Art, Brian lives in Toronto, Ontario with his wife and daughter.

Suzanne Del Rizzo began her career in picture books as the illustrator of the award-winning Skink on the Brink. Her picture book, My Beautiful Birds, launched Suzanne as both author and illustrator for the first time. Suzanne’s dimensional illustrations uses Plasticine, polymer clay, and other mixed media to bring rich texture and imagination to her books. She lives in Oakville, Ontario.

Wallace Edwards was a beloved children’s author and illustrator whose vivid imagination had transformed the world of animals and strange creatures for a generation of children. Born in Ottawa, Ontario, Wallace was a graduate of the Ontario College of Art, and his work can be found in numerous public and private collections. He was a popular guest speaker at conferences, literary events, schools and libraries, and he visited school classrooms across the country. Wallace’s work excites the senses and is completely original in its approach, setting him apart from so many in his field. Wallace lived in Yarker, Ontario

Manon Gauthier is a graphic artist who made the leap to picture book illustration in 2006. After her first book was shortlisted for the Governor General's Award for Children’s Literature, she dedicated herself entirely to illustration, and to giving presentations and art workshops in schools across Quebec.
