Winner of the Literary Titan Gold Book Award and Book One of The Path Finder Series, Paths Not Yet Taken is 340 intriguing, thought-provoking pages of crises, action and emotion, frequently punctuated by wry humour and the occasional laugh. It's a sharp, political satire with genuine heart, which exposes how powerless those in power actually are. Like all good satirical novels, it’s a fiction that’s a conceivable stone's throw from reality.
A ministerial visit to a Midlands food distribution centre goes badly wrong. The prime minister vanishes without trace. As the security services and police launch a frantic search for the missing PM, the government scrambles to maintain its composure and manage the situation.
One man - warehouse worker Simon Pope - inadvertently ends up at the centre of things. Just where he's dreamt of being... and now wishes he wasn't. Pope harbours a secret life and a dark past, putting the unsuspecting, missing politician at risk of losing more than his job. The resolution of the crisis is threatened by assorted bureaucrats, trying to manage a situation that a rigidly structured system is not designed to accommodate, by identifying and looking to eliminate a useful scapegoat.
If you like drama, romance, dogs or drink, this book definitely has plenty for you. If not, there's always the ongoing chaos, the political shenanigans and the relationship intrigues to hold your interest.
Ultimately, one spur-of-the-moment decision is the catalyst for others - including the reader - to reflect on their own lives and to consider decisive actions of their own.

Award-winning author Philip Rennett currently lives in Buckinghamshire with his wife Clare, one dog and a cat. Work started in the Middle East as public relations officer for a police force. Experiences included crash-landing in a plane whose pilots forgot to lower the undercarriage; flying in another plane with a dead body knocking against his leg; and gate-crashing a reception at the Sultan's palace where he bumped into the UK prime minister and the Sultan. In an unrelated incident, he spent a couple of uncomfortable minutes sitting in his Volkswagen Beetle while three very angry soldiers pointed guns at his head. Opting for a quieter life, he returned to the UK and worked in newspaper advertising before starting his own PR consultancy, which he ran for thirty years. Deciding he'd had enough of writing on behalf of employers and clients, he retired and now writes for himself. A keen if mediocre sportsman, he took up golf after his right knee decided it didn't want to take part in more physical sports any longer. Missing the thrills of his early career, he also goes storm chasing occasionally in Tornado Alley.
