Owning a high-end restaurant has been my dream for as long as I can remember. I opened Two Fourteen in Kissing Springs back when I returned home from war. I had little more than my discharge papers and a rucksack, but this community rallied around me until my restaurant became the talk of the county.
Living in the Romance Capital of the South has its drawbacks. At my age, I have everything I could want and very little time to enjoy it. Every twosome coupled up for a romantic dinner reservation remind me of what I’m missing.

I may be a genius of sweets, but people have told me my whole life that I’m pricklier than a cactus. I like it that way. Why bother with fake relationships, romantic or otherwise? I learned a long time ago, the only person you can rely on is yourself.
