This children's picture book is a lyrical depiction of pottery in the home and a glimpse into the practice of potters. The illustrations are done with watercolor, showcasing actual potters' work. In the backmatter there's a list of 26 working potters whose work is depicted in the illustrations. There is an example of each potter's work in the backmatter, so it's fun to try to find their work in the illustrations. There are over 50 illustrations in the book, so there's lots to look at and talk about with children. The lyrical verse in the book makes if fun to read over and over. It's a good choice for poetry to share with children and each time you read there is something new to discover. This book is a nice combination of non-fiction, poetry and art, there's something to learn, to feel, to discover and connect with.
