Coming late in life to creative writing after retiring to Cornwall, ‘Where There’s a Will’ is J A Newman’s first novel, the seed of which was sown one evening during a creative writing course in 2008. Following that course, she had her first article accepted for publication in ‘This England’ in 2010. Since then eight of her articles have been published in ‘Evergreen’. The two Cornish anthologies ‘Mining for Words’ and ‘Write to Remember’ each contain one of her historical short stories which were conceived in conjunction with the Caradon Hill Area Heritage Project. In September 2017 Newman published her memoir ‘No One Comes Close’ which has been well-received with eleven 5-star reviews to date. She is now working on her next novel, a historical time-slip adventure set in the Fens during the English Civil War, which she hopes to release in 2020.
