This book conveys modern political modelling which, for the author, leads to eight inter-dependent democratic and economic reforms dubbed a “Canadian Economic-Democratic Package”, to be legislated quickly: • A National Deposit-Credit Bank answerable directly to democratically elected representatives (Parliament), • Proportional Representation elections to both federal and provincial legislative assemblies, • Participatory referenda on matters of public consequence (including budget spending); as well as Recall of elected representatives subject to scrutiny, both conducted by verifiable computer-medium: one-man-one-elector methods. • Capital-Asset Taxation (replacing Capital Gain-Loss and Profit-Taxation systems (e.g. annually 1% up to $2 million in assets, 2% between $2-20 million and 3% above that threshold), • Resetting social security plans and piecemeal poverty alleviation ‘strategies’ as well as restructuring government income tax programmes through a flat-tax Negative Income Tax plan, • Full Employment replacing, through subsidisation, the EI solution to unemployment distress (resorting to New Deal works-programmes as a ‘last resort’) • Fully subsidized post-secondary education in career-employment geared studies for those realising an aggregate academic mark of 70% or greater on prior education, • Mondragon styled Cooperative Worker owned and managed Enterprises. This book presents arguments defending this eight-point Canadian Economic Democracy Package. This work was prepared in connection with programme “Canada 150” which celebrated the 150th anniversary of creation of Canada (The British North America Act).
