Inhaltsangabe

The Story of a Man who Gave his All for his Church and his Nation .... The Rev. John R. Kooken was a man in the right place at the right time. Or maybe he was the right man at the wrong time. This German Reformed minister was coming into his own at the birth of the Mercersburg Theology and Liturgy, planting a church in Norristown, Pennsylvania, hobnobbing with religious and political leaders, serving his country as a consul to Cuba, and finally, making the supreme sacrifice in giving his life on the battlefield at the Battle of Fredericksburg.Because his relatively short life involved such a variety of activities and contacts, this book deals not just with Kooken's biography but also with the events going on around him. Students of Mercersburg Theology and German Reformed Church history should be particularly interest in his life.
