Inhaltsangabe

Concrete, being globally acceptedas a construction material, possesses noteworthy compressive strength, but at the same time lacks adequate tensile strength. This is the prime concern for the setback of this construction material, to be used for achieving significant tensile strength. Different endeavors have been made to enhance the overall tensile strength of concrete by using wide range of materials. These materials were added either as partial replacement of its inherent constituents, or by addition to the main constituents. A large variety of materials were used, but the use of different types of fibers, in sighted a definite increase of tensile strength without altering the configuration of the concrete blocks to a significant extent. This research insights the use of glass fibers as a partial replacement of the Ordinary Portland cement (OPC) along with the addition of rice husk ash (RHA). The aim of this study is to obtain a suitable proportion of both glass fibre and rice husk ash simultaneously, in order to obtain optimum results among different types of tests. With the use of glass fibre the tendency of crack development and growth gets reduced significantly as these materials act as crack arrester, thereby reducing the susceptibility of crack enlargement under the application of load.
