The runes of the Futhark, the alphabet(s) of various peoples of Northern Europe since the second century CE, have a long history of varied uses: sacred and profane, magical and mundane. “A Rune Poem” presents a free-but-faithful translation of one the key sources for the historical meaning of the runes, the Anglo-Saxon Rune Poem, with influences and material interpolated from further relevant sources including the Icelandic Rune Poem, the Hávamál, The Nolesby Runestone, and the technical specifications for international standards in wireless connectivity between devices. A percentage of the profits from this book will go to organisations involved in the continued transmission of intangible cultural heritage and the preservation of Earth’s fragile population. By which I mean I’ll probably spend it on mead.
