We ask a child to “Draw a picture of a honey bee.” The problem with such a request is that the request does not stimulate the important “CONTINUOUS CREATIVE THOUGHT PROCESS” in the child’s developing mind. For example, suppose you were taught how to separately strum G, C and D chords on a guitar, however you were never taught the skill of “continuously” connecting those chords to form a song. In this case you have only learned to strum individual chords. You might think you know how to play the guitar, but in reality you have only learned individual chords; you have not developed the skills necessary to put the chords together to “play a song.”

Similarly, when we ask a child to “Draw a honey bee on a flower,” we are asking the child to strum a single chord; we are not teaching the child to CONTINUOUSLY connect their thoughts. However, if we ask that same child to draw a series of sketches telling the story of “a little honey bee who was afraid of flowers,” then we are teaching the child to compose their own creative song.
