Joey's courage, with Mae's support, helps get them both out of some troubles along the way. Joey survives some dangerous situations and with each step becomes more and more independent.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor
T. A. Davis was born in Russell, Kansas. She graduated from Laramie High School in Laramie, Wyoming and attended the University of Wyoming where she received bachelor degrees in both Physical Education and Elementary Education. She taught four years in Chugwater, Wyoming and eighteen years in Dallas, Texas. She was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2002 and had to leave teaching. After a while, she decided to follow a dream of hers and wrote this book. There is a sequel to The First Step entitled The Night Spirit.
