Why can't our government solve solvable problems?

Just 20 answers that question. America has no shortage of politics. It has a shortage of governing.

Governing means turning shared problems into durable, representative public policy. The Constitution assigns that job to Congress.

But for decades, while our attention has been consumed by the presidency, the courts, political parties, and never-ending campaigns, Congress stopped working as the Constitution intended.

We can change that. We have far more power than we realize. A surprisingly small number of voters, candidates, and newly elected representatives can make Congress govern again.

No new party. No revolution. Just one commitment voters can ask candidates to make before Election Day.

It doesn't take everyone. It takes Just 20.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Patricia Foster spent her career practicing constitutional law and helping Americans find common ground through Beyond Civility. She didn't set out to write a book about Congress. She set out to answer a question millions of Americans have asked: Why has our government stopped working for us? Looking at the problem from outside the Washington establishment, she discovered that the answer is far simpler than most people imagine. More importantly, she realized that ordinary Americans can do something about it. Just 20 shares what she learned and invites readers to see their role in American government in an entirely new light.
