As we turn the first ‘corner’ around the ‘track’ of the new millennium, it may serve us well to reflect if we hope to have a less turbulent millennium than the previous. If we hope to grow beyond the violence that defined large swarths of the preceding chunk of hundred years. As we fail to engage constructively with the likes of financial instability, poverty and Nature, Frankenstein-like versions of our creations make unannounced ‘visits’ from time to inconvenient time. We fear that some scuffle somewhere will drag us into another ‘Armageddon-like’ war or that if all else fails, an ‘extinction-event’ might be our ultimate karma (not to exclude our pivoting science fiction lovers). Confronting ourselves and our societies are the only way to grow.
