Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Kelly Spining has been working with children for over thirty years, with twelves of those years as a Kindergarten teacher. During that time, she developed a love of writing and has written many short stories that she has shared with her classes. Her story, “The Butterfly Tree,” was inspired by a trip to her aunt’s house where she saw a bush covered with butterflies. The bush was so lush and beautiful that when she got home, she sat down and wrote the story in about fifteen minutes. That was almost twenty years ago. However, the theme of friendship that is featured in the story is a timeless lesson that she hopes will be conveyed to her young readers. Kelly is the proud mother of two daughters, and the very proud “Nana Kel” to three beautiful granddaughters. She lives in Alabama with her husband Steve and is a faculty member at the University Charter School.
