Morgan Bishop has just retired from a long career as a professional firefighter. As a retirement celebration, he and two of his sons, Dane and Jack, have ridden motorcycles to British Columbia to visit their old friend Ron Landry, who is drilling for oil in a remote wilderness. The three men find themselves isolated and alone in the wilderness on the day the world changes forever. Strange objects burn across the sky and somehow cause all electrical power to fail, plunging the whole world and these ordinary men into extraordinary peril. Dane is severely injured saving Morgan and Jack from a piece of falling machinery damaged by the event that came to be known as the Skyfall. The harshness of the environment and Dane's injuries leave them at death's door and Morgan on his knees, pleading with God to send help least they die. The answer to his prayer hurls them into the maelstrom of the end of days and leaves them transformed into creatures not seen since Adam. The price of that transformation leaves the future of all mankind in their hands.
