Self-management methods to help students explore and analyze everyday issues
Teach Students to Manage Their Own Behavior presents a new approach to discipline in the classroom by encouraging middle grades students to explore issues before they result in troubling behavior. The interactive discussion modules offer real-life vignettes that provide a proactive method for understanding and dissecting common student behavioral problems. Through engagement with each narrative, students can reflect on and solve problems of behavior, social issues, and social interactions that fill their daily lives, including such topics as bullying, cheating, peer pressure, fear, discrimination, and self-destructive behavior. By allowing students to connect the narrative stories with their own experiences, this resource provides a platform for young adults to think about their own attitudes and behaviors, analyze issues, discuss the underlying causes of their behavior, and recommend solutions. In the process, students grow in self-control, self-esteem, respectful behavior, and connecting with others.
