Annie Tipton did a splendid job in writing this "diary" from a child's point of view. I felt like a child again.

Like other "diary of a...." book, children will have fun putting their imaginations to the test.

This was a fun book for any young reader. Set up like a diary you will get lost in the pages and find yourself laughing in many spots at the big ideas that EJ (the main character has) as well as how she deals with what is thrown at her on a daily basis. I loved the characters in the book and the author has done a great job creating a book and a literary environment that draws you in from the beginning. This was such a funny book, and my daughter and I read through this in only one sitting, as neither of us wanted to stop. The characters in this book were memorable and we loved seeing what EJ would do next, as it was very unpredictable, and this made it even more fun to read and to experience. By the end of the story my eldest daughter was asking about summer camp herself and whether she could go to Camp herself... who knows! I really liked Diary of a Real Payne: Church Camp Chaos, and thought that it was just as good as the first book! My favorite part was when EJ received her mom's letter at camp, explaining the reason why she and Dad were behaving a bit suspiciously. It's really cool how it all unfolds together, making you think, "Oh, now I get why that happened!" It is a super great book and I can't wait to read the next! Curly, my 8-year-old bookworm, loved this book. The day it arrived in the mail I let her look through it. By that evening she brought the book to me to thank me and tell me she was finished. She read the entire book in one day and I don't think she ever put it down! She enjoyed EJ's adventures and the fun times she had at church camp. She told me the book was "funny."
While I enjoyed the first book in the series, I have to say I found myself laughing out loud several times as I read. EJ's summer experiences are memorable and fun. I especially enjoyed her short snippets of silly daydreams interspersed throughout the book.
