It seems all appliquérs save scraps of fabrics thinking they will use them somewhere, someday. Now Shannon Brinkley has come along with a fun way to turn those scraps into one-of-a-kind quilts using her simple collage technique and raw-edge appliqué. Shannon discusses how to plan your quilt, color theory basics and how to choose a color palette. She also addresses what materials you will need and explains why she recommends these materials and explains how to pull all this together to make the quilt using different collage techniques and quiltmaking basics. There are 8 projects in the book. You will find detailed sizing charts, photos and illustrations illustrating the techniques used. If you are looking for a fun new technique to learn I recommend you give Shannon’s Scrappy Bits Appliqué method a try. The designs are fun and modern and the instructions are easily understood. Start out small and make a pillow. You will soon find yourself working on larger project s and digging through all those scraps you have for just the right color or print.
