Thomas D. Marcotte, PhD, is Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), and Center Manager of the HIV Neurobehavioral Research Center at UCSD. His research focuses on the development of methods for assessing and predicting the impact of cognitive impairments on the ability to carry out everyday activities, in particular, driving an automobile. Dr. Marcotte also has a program of research investigating HIV-related neurocognitive dysfunction, particularly in the international context. He has published numerous articles and book chapters on these topics and served on the editorial boards of the Journal of the International Neuropsychological Society and Neuropsychology.

Igor Grant, MD, is Distinguished Professor of Psychiatry and Director of the HIV Neurobehavioral Research Center at the University of California, San Diego. He has contributed extensively to the literature on neuropsychiatry, particularly the effects of alcohol abuse, drug abuse, HIV, and other disease states on neurocognitive functioning and underlying brain disease. Dr. Grant&;s work has also touched on the effects of life stress on health, in particular, physiological changes and coping among chronically stressed caregivers of patients with Alzheimer&;s disease. He is Founding Editor of the Journal of the International Neuropsychological Society and AIDS and Behavior.
