The teen years of author Anelio F. Conti were blessed with the gift of good parents and family. Reared practically by a strict Christian grandmother, young Anelio lived his carefree years in abundance and happiness. In that peaceful setting he began to feel the passion to write at that early age. His aspirations to fulfill the childhood dream to write, however, were shattered by the start of World War II. After years of fighting, he saw the full thrust of the battles come to ravage his beloved hometown, Pastena, and The Chestnut Grove. Anelio F. Conti focuses his story not based on the expertise of a war strategist, or of a military point of view. His aims are simply to recount the events of a bitter war based on what unfolds before his eyes, to convey the message that no nobler victor is fair to the vanquished, and that The Chestnut Grove was liberated from the Allies but that it was Ravished into Liberty.
