Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Victor Appleton was a house name created by the Stratemeyer Syndicate for the original Tom Swift series, which began in 1910. Rather than identifying a single writer, the name appeared on stories produced by several authors working from outlines and concepts developed for the syndicate. The books combined traditional boys' adventure fiction with the rapidly changing technologies of the early twentieth century. The series followed Tom Swift from his earliest experiments with motorcycles and motorboats to increasingly ambitious inventions involving aircraft, submarines, radio, electricity, and high-speed transportation. Its optimistic vision of science and engineering helped establish Tom as one of the most enduring young inventors in American popular fiction.
