The Jessups were tough and prideful men -- full of sand and true grit. In his younger days, Jericho John Jessup was a gunfighting legend, and the gift of the fast draw was passed down to his son, Ed. Still, the Jessups never went looking for trouble. They were ranchers, plain and simple. Then Morgan Hill got it in his head that there was only room enough for one rancher in Maverick Creek -- him! Hill sent his hired guns riding hell for leather from one ranch to the next. Some folks left peacefully, and others died for their stubbornness. When Hill's pack of sidewinders showed up at the Jessups spread, Jericho John told him he'd die before he'd leave -- and die he did.
Now, with his father six feet under and his ranch a smoldering ash pile, Ed Jessup has no choice. With iron hanging from his hips and a Henry in his saddleboot, he rides hard for Morgan Hill's spread. He would be the judge, jury and executioner as he administered the law of the six-gun.
