If you can remember the sixties, you weren't there.
The 1960s - a decade known for politics and protest, drugs and defiance. But the Sixties were more than just a drug-induced haze of protest. It was a decade that witnessed man's first walk on the moon and the Vietnam War, the British Invasion and the miniskirt, "antihero" cinema and youth counterculture. It was a decade filled with empowered voices and unabashed freedom, one that left an indelible impact on all who lived through it.
From Haight-Ashbury to Woodstock, from the march on Washington to the riots of Chicago, from the Free Speech Movement to women's lib, the Sixties brought about the birth of social trends and political dissent unlike any other.
You don't have to remember the Sixties, or even to have lived in the Sixties, to enjoy this collection of iconic and unforgettable quotes from this endlessly fascinating decade. With words from politicians, activists, artists, entertainers, and more, The Quotable Sixties will impart the true spirit of that decade to all.
