This story begins in the Tang Dynasty, ancient China. The country is in great chaos due to the infamous Jin Kang Rebellion. Fearing the possible destruction that might eventually result, Concubine Liu tearfully entrusts the care of her baby daughter - Princess Yi Fu to a common citizen named Tang Hui. Tang Hui immediately escapes with the princess to the South. A decade passes, and Emperor Gao Zon of Tang has decided he wants to find all of his long-lost relatives and has appointed Zhong Lu to the task. From there an emotional, tear-jerking adventure begins as Zhong Lu discovers and takes a special interest in Princess Yi Fu (renamed Zi Li), who is happily living in a quiet fishing village with her childhood crush and savior - Tang Hui. Returning with Zhong Lu to a life of royalty means leaving behind the humble life she has come to know with the commoners.
