With contributions from fellow audiologists and other medical specialists, Wolfe presents a textbook for professional and academic doctoral courses on audiologic considerations pertaining to each of the implantable hearing technologies currently available for children and adults with hearing loss. Practicing audiologists might also find the material useful when managing patients who have or need implantable hearing devices, he says. The topics include anatomy and physiology associated with cochlear implantation, advanced bionics cochlear implants and sound processors, factors affecting the outcomes of children with cochlear implants, and auditory brainstem implants.
