Inhaltsangabe

A clinical training manual for medical students learning surgery techniques in head, neck, thoracic, and general surgical contexts, this comprehensive, well-referenced and profusely illustrated guidebook covers all aspects of surgical procedures. An introductory chapter details operating room setup, animal procurement, transport and housing, and includes an overview of surgical instruments. Further chapters follow the general progress of surgical procedure, from induction of anesthesia to basic exposure, including anatomy and harvesting of grafts for different tissues. Specific surgical procedures are the subject of the several chapters organized generally in the order of increasing complexity. Laryngotracheoplasty, tracheotomy, cricotracheal resection, and slide tracheoplasty are covered. Including many innovations in the field of reconstruction and dissection of airways, and written by a group of expert clinical practitioners, the manual adopts a modular approach, breaking complex tasks into sequences of basic procedures.
