In a work which is intended to serve primarily as a Handbook for students, it would obviously be impossible, nor indeed would it be fitting, that every view which has been propounded regarding the various problems raised by the science of Biblical Introduction in this department should be discussed. It has been my endeavour, however, to lay due emphasis on all the important factors that have co-operated in the development of Old Testament Introductory Method, and especially to assign credit, where credit is due, to pioneers whose work is in danger of being forgotten. --from the Preface
