Inhaltsangabe

The Death and Burial of Cock Robin is a rhyming story originally published in 1865 about a group of animals who are about to bury their friend, Cock Robin, who was killed by a bow and arrow, by a sparrow of course. The theme of Cock Robin’s death as well as the poem’s distinctive cadence have become archetypes in literary fiction, from poems, to murder mysteries, to cartoons. This illustrated edition by Henry Louis Stephens. A well known caricaturist, Stephens excelled at depicting animals and illustrated several children’s stories as well as being an early contributor to Vanity Fair. The images in this edition are edited and enhanced scans of the original book. Great care was taken to enhance the images in a way that preserves the line-work and vivid imagery of the original however in some cases some imperfections from the source material may be in the finished product. The type was reset using a more readable font that still maintained the look of the original. While far from a perfect reproduction, we feel this material is of cultural importance and that this printing is as close to a quality reprint as you will find on the market today.
