Hiroki Endo continues to push Eden in new directions, introducing strange sci-fi horrors and dynamic characters in dangerous settings across the globe. By 2112, the Closure Virus has already wiped out about one-third of the world's population, but it mutates again to infect not only people and living creatures-but inorganic matter as well. Dubbed the "Disclosure Virus," this new threat overruns several major cities, creating huge crystalline shapes with the matter it absorbs. Relentless action is ramped up again in the pages of Eden's complicated, violent story arc!

The aftermath of Eden’s ninth-volume cataclysm here expires in plenty of bullets and explosions, none of which hit one-man-strike-force Kenji’s spine, so he is back in business two days later. Then Endo shifts the action to an L.A. rendered uninhabitable by an aggressive new form of the same virus that killed a third of humanity before the saga began. A further shift back to Lima, Peru, launches this installment’s first major plot, and a side trip to a lab researching the virus triggers the other. The action this time is smartly punctuated with quiet interludes, the surviving characters keep developing, and Endo’s artwork is more lucid than ever. --Ray Olson
