This is the ultimate resource for those who are as creative as they are willing to conserve. Ruby Star Wrapping inspires you to think resourceful, think reusable, think unusual when it comes to gift packaging. Raid the pantry for boxes, use old linens for pouches, and make beautiful accessories out of fabric and paper scraps—the projects here illustrate how to create beautiful, reusable packaging from the common materials in your home. With its thirty easy-to-make giftwrap patterns, this book reminds us of the wonderful creative potential inherent in the act of giving a gift. When wrapped with thought, beauty, and a little ingenuity, the packaging can be a gift in itself.
Melody grew up in the Lowcountry of South Carolina, quite possibly the prettiest place on earth. Later, she felt just as much at home in New York City, where she studied industrial design at Pratt Instute, and her love for vintage objects began. In 2010, Melody released the first of her six Ruby Star fabric collections for Kokka.
In early 2013, Melody had an epic idea, and from that, Cotton+Steel Fabrics was born. She is the Creative Director of Cotton+Steel, where she designs playful vintage-inspired fabric collections.
She lives in Atlanta, in picturesque and historic Grant Park with her amazing photographer hubby, two charmingly quirky children, and a very silly Bichon Frise. She loves vintage design, flea markets, her converse sneaks and margaritas. Most times, in moderation.
Allison Tannery studied journalism at the University of Georgia, but that career track lost its luster upon graduation. She is the Brand Champion and personal cheerleader for Melody Miller's work. She lives just outside of Atlanta with her husband, four children, and one incredibly annoying dog.
